Press Release 10/31/2013

The Wellbriety Movement Conference Healing the Hurts
Empowering the Family– April 10-13, 2014 2/22/14 • Denver, Colorado

White Bison, Inc. and the Wellbriety Movement are honored to offer a three-day Gathering in the Spring of 2014 focused on the Intergenerational Healing of American Indian, Alaska Native and First Nations families.

This gathering will continue the tradition and format of the many White Bison and Wellbriety Movement conferences and gatherings that have been taking place for over 25 years.

There will be opportunities to participate in ceremonies with the Sacred 100 Eagle Feather Hoop and the Wellbriety Forgiveness Staff. Participants may visit with Native Elders, leaders and community members actively involved in Native American intergenerational healing, substance abuse recovery, and cultural renewal.

The April, 2014 gathering will celebrate and introduce the renewal of NANACOA: the National Association for Native American Children of Alcoholics. NANACOA was created in 1988 to support any and all Native people impacted by the disease of alcoholism in all its forms in their own growing-up families, or in their communities, reservations and tribal groups. NANACOA offers members culture, hope, fellowship and practical tools for dealing with the effects alcohol and other drugs have on loved ones or on themselves, even if individuals are not themselves drinkers or users. This gathering will take the first step in revitalizing NANACOA for today’s world.

The gathering will also offer talking circles utilizing the cultural learning tools and skill base developed by White Bison, Inc. and the Wellbriety Movement. These methods can help the intergenerational healing of Native American families impacted by the boarding and residential school era in North America.

Those who will benefit from the White Bison Wellbriety Way of healing intergenerational trauma available at the gathering include:
